A Farmer was riding his wagon along a country road after a heavy rain.
The road was muddy and the horses had a very hard time pulling the wagon.
At last, the wagon came to a complete stop when one of the wheels sank into the mud.
The Farmer climbed down from his seat and stood beside the wagon.
He was looking at it, but he did not make any effort to get the wagon out of the mud.
All his did was complain about his bad luck and call loudly to Hercules to help him.
To his surprise, Hercules appeared in front on him, saying
"Put your shoulder to the wheel and help your horses.
Do you think you can move the wagon by simply looking at it and complaining about it?
Hercules will not help you unless you try yourself."
And when the Farmer put his shoulder to help his horses, the wagon moved easily,
Soon enough, the Farmer was riding along the road. He learned a great lesson.
Lesson: Self-help is the best help. Heaven helps those who help themselves.
