A Town Mouse once visited a friend in the country.
For lunch, the Country Mouse served wheat, roots and acorns with some water.
The Town Mouse ate only a little. It was plain she only ate the food to be polite.
After the meal, the friends talked for a long time.
The Town Mouse talked about her great life in the city.
After that, the two of them went to bed in a cozy nest.
They slept in quiet and comfort until morning.
The Country Mouse dreamed that she was a Town Mouse with all the luxuries and delights of the city life.
So the next day when the Town Mouse asked the Country Mouse if she wanted to go home with her to the city, she said yes.
When they reached the mansion the Town Mouse lived, they found a table in the dining room.
There was food left over from a very fine dinner.
There was candy, jelly, pastries and delicious cheese on the table.
The cheese was the favorite kind of food for mice.
Just as the Country Mouse was about to start eating a bit of the pastry, she heard a Cat.
With great fear, both of them went to the hiding place.
They lay there for a very long time.
At last, when they went back to the table, people came back into the room with the House Dog.
The Country Mouse went back to the Town Mouse's nest, only to pick his stuff up and said
"You may have the luxuries I do not have, but I prefer my plain food and simple life in the country with the peace and security that comes with it."
The Country Mouse hurried back to his home in the Country.
Lesson: People see happiness in diffent things. Happiness for someone doesn't mean happiness for everyone.
